Warning, this loud! Love the angry sound of this motor/blower!!
Nothing can beat a custom 60's era 4 door Lincoln Continental convertible for it's coolness. But whereas most are all style and handle like a slush bucket, this car will have the looks, but also the performance to back it up. Look out late model German cars, this car will have performance to boot! With upgraded suspension all around, and around 900 hp under the hood, it'll make a killer sleeper GT car.
A previous shop had done some work on it, but it was severely lacking in a lot of areas. The body was very wavy, and the suspension upgrades where minimal and had some scary welds on them (certainly not something you want to trust your life on). HBC decided it had to be blocked to get rid of the waves and repaint it. Also a lot of fab work had to be done that should have been done before it was painted. We removed the stock front suspension and custom fitted a modern IFS suspension, with Wilwood brakes all around. Out back, we ripped the shock hangers out (easily done) and built a custom shock/frame brace with integral horizontal frame stiffener. Since these are uni-body cars, we also created some square tubing to tie the front and rear subframes together. Take a look at the photos to see the work progress!
This 1964 Ford Galaxie was retrofitted with a modern Cobra Mustang motor, complete with a supercharger. In addition, a lot of the suspension was replaced or modified. Certainly a beautiful car with some solid upgrades. However.. while some of it was professionally done, some was not. Electrical system was in disarray and a lot of stuff didn't work (A/C, wipers, turn signals, etc etc) and the stereo was in the trunk with only subwoofers installed (guess they never got around to installing the other speakers). In addition, the steering geometry was way off, causing severe bump steer and the tires rubbed. Plus a lot of other little items that needed attention to make this a very nice driver.
This dual turbo 350Z is planned for drifting and road race/autocross work, as well as occasional street use. The turbo system is capable of 800 HP, but it's currently dialed down to "only" 550 hp at the wheels. The customer requested a brake package to replace the stock brakes and 5 point safety harnesses installed; and sort out a number of problems. It runs well but is a real bear to start, headlights and horn didn't work, all ignition coils were replaced, and some other odds and ends. It was also decided toward the end of the build to give it a paint job, so we did a number of designs in both red/black and orange/black and worked with the customer until it matched his vision of what he wanted it to look like.
"Rat Patrol" is a 1978 GMC Jimmy and a Fall 2013 project for a good friend and customer. This started as a neglected hunting truck that was purchased as a birthday present for his son's 16 birthday present! It was turned over to HBC to restore with some improvements requested as well. Initially, the customer and us had the impression that the motor was okay, transmission wasn't too bad, and the body wasn't too bad (though it obviously had some visible issues with rust and body work).
Upon further inspection we found:
- Leak down test on the motor showed numerous bad cylinders with as much as 80% leakage. Transmission was also toast.
- More rust than anticipated and some body pieces that were badly damaged.
Follow along as we progress through the tear down and rebuild!
"Fordgery" - What started out as a cab and front end from a 1951 Ford F6 truck, and will be fitted onto a 2008 Dodge 1500 chassis including the late model 5.7 Hemi. The Hemi will be modified to give the appearance of a mid 60's Ford 427 Cammer, and the combo of the Ford body on the Dodge chassis is what inspired the name "Fordgery".
